These Italian inspired beads have a long, unique history that dates back to the 7th century. The term millefiori is a combination of the Italian words "mille" (thousand) and "fiori" (flowers). The millefiori technique is often associated with Venetian glass. Originally, murrine glass rods with multicolored patterns are placed in a furnace, stretched out, then cut into beads. Now it is more common for polymer clay to be used rather than murrine glass rods to make millefiori beads! Each order comes with 1 - 18" string of approximately 65 assorted millefiori glass beads!
